Systems Development Engineer, Lab Operations Platform

What you'll do

• Own the software systems that interface with lab personnel, spaces, and equipment from design through operation.
• Design and build tools and dashboards to visualize lab capacity against design-team demand.
• Integrate data from headcount, scheduling, Jira tickets, and equipment maintenance into a consistent backend data model.
• Build and maintain APIs that connect Jira, in-house tools, and systems owned by other teams.
• Design intuitive interfaces for non-software users and iterate on them based on direct feedback from lab engineers.
• Surface equipment status and availability so that personnel can visualize and plan work around it.
• Ensure test and equipment data is stored securely, kept clean, and remains traceable.
• Operate built systems by writing documentation, running monitoring, and driving permanent fixes for technical issues.

What we're looking for

• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software and systems development experience.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and SQL with relational or non-relational data stores.
• Experience designing and delivering end-to-end internal tools, including front-end, back-end, data models, and APIs.
• Experience building software for physical operations like scheduling, resource allocation, inventory, or equipment workflows.
