TL;DR · Supervisor, Electrical Engineering Lab

Supervisor, Electrical Engineering Lab The Supervisor, Electrical Engineering Lab joins the Connected Warfare team to lead a small group of electrical engineering technicians in developing integrated edge computing technologies for command-and-control systems. This role involves supervising daily operations, conducting performance reviews, and mentoring staff while maintaining high standards for safety and quality. The supervisor performs hands-on tasks including building wire harnesses, performing precision SMT and through-hole soldering, and executing comprehensive test plans using oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting electronic assemblies to the component level, managing lab maintenance, and overseeing equipment calibration. Candidates must possess technical literacy in reading complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams while demonstrating proficiency in IPC standards for assembly and rework. The role addresses the challenge of integrating advanced hardware into modern defense systems to enhance battlefield intelligence.

What you'll do

  • Supervise and mentor a team of electrical engineering technicians through daily direction, performance reviews, and career development.
  • Build and modify complex cable and wire harness assemblies including crimping, soldering, and routing per schematics.
  • Perform precision PCB rework and assembly using surface-mount and through-hole soldering techniques under a microscope.
  • Operate test equipment like oscilloscopes and signal generators to verify the performance of PCBs and power systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electronic failures down to the component level using technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Document test data, rework actions, and failure modes to support engineering analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Manage shift-level outcomes for safety, quality, cost, and delivery while meeting specific build and test targets.
  • Oversee lab operations including equipment calibration, inventory management, and compliance with EHS and quality standards.

What we're looking for

  • Must have 5+ years of experience in electronics/power systems testing, assembly, and rework in R&D or production environments.
  • Must have prior formal or informal people-leadership experience to direct and develop a technical team.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in fine-pitch SMT and through-hole soldering per IPC J-STD-001 or equivalent standards.
  • Must have experience building and modifying complex cable and wire harness assemblies per IPC-620 or equivalent standards.
  • Must be proficient in diagnosing electronic failures to the component level using standard test equipment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred qualifications include an Associate degree, IPC certifications, and experience with CAD/ECAD or PLM systems.
