The Hardware Engineering Lab Manager – LPU joins the LPU team to provide essential engineering support for Datacenter products. This role involves managing day-to-day operations of multiple hardware engineering labs, including inventory management, space allocation, and equipment maintenance. The manager will oversee lab safety, regulatory compliance, and quality requirements while establishing training programs for personnel. Daily tasks include bench organization, installing equipment, racking servers, and forecasting materials to ensure stock availability. Key technical skills required include performing surface mount rework, programming operating systems, managing network protocols, and handling electrical equipment involving high voltage or flammable liquids. The candidate should be proficient with MS Office and database tools. Manage day-to-day operations for hardware engineering labs including space allocation and organization.
Operate and maintain engineering equipment through regular maintenance and calibration.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements for lab certifications.
Establish and manage safety training programs for all personnel accessing the labs.
Coordinate with engineers to implement upgrades, new equipment installations, and lab expansions.
Perform physical tasks including bench organization, server racking, and general maintenance.
Manage inventory by tracking assets, forecasting needs, and procuring hardware components and supplies.
Support the procurement team with shipping and receiving activities.
What we're looking for
Diploma, Certification, Associate, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of hands-on experience leading an electronic or testing lab.
Ability to perform basic surface mount rework.
Proficiency in programming operating systems and modifying files and directory structures.
Familiarity with networking protocols and hands-on experience updating network addressing.
Experience operating electrical/non-electrical laboratory equipment and handling potentially dangerous substances like high voltage or flammable liquids.
Proficiency with MS Office and database tools.
Ability to lift and carry components weighing over 35 pounds.
