Staff Solutions Engineer

What you'll do

• Partner with Business Development and Customer Success teams to identify and close new revenue opportunities.
• Lead technical solutioning and consulting phases as the primary point of contact for customers' engineering teams.
• Present Marqeta’s technical capabilities and product features to prospective clients during the early sales process.
• Collaborate with internal Product Managers and Architects to design customized solutions that meet specific customer goals.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to ensure clients are prepared and supported during the transition to implementation.
• Serve as the "voice of the customer" by providing feedback to internal teams regarding product improvements and beta testing.
• Identify market trends, emerging customer needs, and potential gaps in the market to inform company strategy.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects through various stages of the sales process, including pricing and contract negotiations.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 8 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• Ideally 7+ years of experience in a relevant Technology, Product, or Sales Engineering role, preferably in the Payments/Fintech industry (preferred).
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and related tools such as JSON, Postman, GraphQL, and XML.
• Ability to lead technical consulting sessions and presentations via video conference for customer-facing roles.
• Ability to manage and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
• Demonstrated understanding of fintech, including acquiring, networks, point-of-sale, card issuing, and processing (preferred).
• Experience writing solution summaries and creating flow diagrams using tools like Lucidchart (preferred).
