You will be an experienced AI leader with a deep understanding of AI, fraud product development, and modern authentication protocols. You will partner with a diverse set of teams including engineering, data scientists, risk operations, legal, GTM and marketing.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely in the United States, only in one of our Premium or National locations, which you can review here.

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Define and execute a clear, actionable strategy that aligns with the company's overall growth objectives
  • Lead and inspire others with a compelling product vision and roadmap, driving alignment and seeking consensus among leadership, peers, and teams
  • Deeply understand fraud, risk, and authentication ecosystems to identify the impact of initiatives or features across the platform. This includes understanding the competitive landscape, AI-based fraud tools, rules-based fraud engines, EMV 3DS specifications, issuer and merchant requirements, and strong customer authentication (SCA) requirements — particularly for regulatory compliance like PSD2 in Europe
  • Develop AI-powered products and frictionless authentication solutions that directly address customer pain points, balance security with user experience, and drive business outcomes. Work cross-functionally to ensure optimal implementation and customer success
  • Own the complete P&L for your suite of products and drive the adoption and optimization of Real Time Decisioning and 3D Secure solutions — balancing fraud prevention, authentication approval rates, customer experience metrics, regulatory compliance, and financial outcomes
  • Collaborate across customer-facing and technical teams to collect inputs for prioritization of features, including value, effort, usability, and priority
  • Create well-defined Product Requirement Documents focusing on customer and business value and defining metrics to quantify success
  • Act as technical advisor to educate and evangelize features with customers via meetings, presentations, and other forums
  • Collaborate with go-to-market partners to develop product collateral, presentations, trainings, and other tools to bring products to customers and prospects
  • Leverage hands-on AI and prototyping skills to rapidly validate product concepts, build proof-of-concept models, and accelerate the path from idea to production
  • Stay current on the latest AI/ML research, foundation models, and tooling — and proactively identify opportunities to embed AI capabilities across the Risk Decisioning and 3D Secure product suites

Who You Are

  • 10+ years in product management roles designing and delivering fraud, risk, and/or authentication solutions that have delighted customers and driven business growth
  • Proven track record of setting vision and strategy for a portfolio of products and translating it into a roadmap with rigorous end-to-end execution
  • Experience recruiting and growing top talent and building high-performing teams, with strong EQ and leadership skills
  • Passion for AI, demonstrated through hands-on building, prototyping, or side projects, and a habit of staying current on the latest research, models, and tools
  • Fluency with modern prototyping tools (e.g., Cursor, Replit, Claude Code) and the ability to use them to rapidly explore and validate product ideas
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulation of customer problems for both technical and business audiences
  • "Roll up your sleeves" mentality to make your products and team successful, seeking root causes, assigning ownership, and driving accountability to get things done

Nice-To-Haves

$120600 - $150700

As Senior Product Manager for Tokenization, you will own the product strategy and roadmap for Marqeta's tokenization platform - the foundation that powers digital wallet provisioning and network token transactions, and a central pillar of Marqeta's business. You'll shape the strategic direction of the platform, drive innovation that delivers industry-first capabilities, and manage relationships with key partners including Visa, Mastercard, Apple, and Google.

From launching new products and expanding into emerging use cases to ensuring compliance with network and wallet mandates, you'll deliver impactful capabilities across provisioning, transaction processing, and token lifecycle management. Your passion and attention to detail will help keep a mission-critical platform reliable and compliant - while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in tokenization to create lasting value for customers and Marqeta.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remote within the United States or from our Oakland, CA headquarters. We’d love for you to join us.

The Impact You’ll Have

  • You'll help shape a compelling product vision and roadmap for the tokenization platform, driving alignment and seeking consensus among leadership, engineering, and cross-functional partners
  • Directly engage with Visa, Mastercard, Apple, and Google on compliance mandates, protocol migrations, and strategic partnership initiatives - serving as Marqeta's primary product voice for tokenization
  • Collaborate across engineering, operations, and international teams to manage complex, multi-month initiatives such as network migrations and regional compliance rollouts
  • Translate network and wallet requirements into clear engineering specifications, writing high-quality PRDs with crisp acceptance criteria that maintain engineering velocity
  • Deliver customer value iteratively, launching new capabilities end-to-end — from ideation through rollout — driving measurable gains in token provisioning and transaction processing volume
  • Identify and flag customer-impacting gaps in the platform, surfacing issues to leadership early with clear status updates and action plans
  • Own the product narrative for tokenization across GTM, Product Support, Customer Success, and onboarding  - ensuring cross-functional teams have the product knowledge, documentation, and strategic context they need to move fast and represent the platform accurately to customers
  • Collaborate with go-to-market partners to develop product collateral, presentations, and enablement tools that bring tokenization capabilities to customers and prospects
  • Stay current with payment industry trends, competitive landscape, and growth opportunities to proactively shape the platform's direction

Who You Are

  • 5+ years in a product management role designing and delivering payment solutions that have delighted customers and driven business growth
  • Deep expertise in the payment industry ecosystem: card brand regulations, payment networks, tokenization standards, and digital wallet integrations (Apple Pay, Google Pay)
  • Proven track record of end-to-end product delivery and execution, with experience independently owning a complex platform with high compliance and reliability requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems for technical and business audiences
  • Proficient in identifying key metrics, analyzing data, and balancing quantitative and qualitative information to make decisions
  • Excellent technical acumen, curiosity, and familiarity with APIs, data analysis, and working alongside engineering teams to shape technically sound solutions
  • A customer-centric mindset — you consistently ask "How does this solve the customer's problem?"
  • "Roll up your sleeves" mentality to make your products successful and get things done, even when the path is unclear
  • Expertise in Agile, stakeholder management, and product lifecycle management

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with transaction processing systems, 3DS authentication, or issuer processing platforms
  • Familiarity with international payment regulations.
  • Experience managing tier-0 or mission-critical services with high uptime expectations
