Staff Software Development Engineer

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Implement event-driven patterns using Apache Kafka for producers, consumers, and schema evolution.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines including unit testing, static analysis, and progressive delivery.
• Integrate backend services with EHR systems using HL7 v2, FHIR, and other healthcare data standards.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, data governance, and security requirements like encryption and secrets management.
• Own production readiness by monitoring availability, latency, throughput, and cost efficiency for high-volume services.
• Diagnose production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement observability through structured logging and tracing.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions while mentoring junior engineers.

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of overall professional software development experience.
• 5+ years developing backend applications with Java/JEE, Spring Boot, and Node.js.
• 3+ years of experience deploying and operating services on Google Cloud Platform using cloud-native patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.
• Strong understanding of REST API design, JSON data modeling, and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads (Docker; Kubernetes preferred).
• Solid grasp of security fundamentals including OAuth2/OIDC, TLS, and secrets management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
