What you'll do

  • Design and model enterprise and datacenter SSD architectures optimized for AI data loading and model checkpointing.
  • Translate hardware, CXL, and controller constraints into optimized firmware architectures for Samsung’s flash subsystems.
  • Align storage features with the specific infrastructure requirements of major hyperscale cloud providers like AWS, Google, and Microsoft.
  • Collaborate with ASIC, firmware, and validation teams to resolve architectural bottlenecks in low-latency environments.
  • Develop architectural simulators or FPGA prototypes to evaluate new storage features and AI caching algorithms.
  • Lead the architectural definition of advanced paradigms such as FDP, ZNS, and computational storage for AI tasks.
  • Create foundational architectural patents to protect intellectual property regarding AI storage optimization and near-data processing.
  • Engage directly with hyperscale partners to architect deployment models like GPUDirect Storage and disaggregated storage.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 10+ years experience.
  • Master's degree with 8+ years experience or PhD with 5+ years experience.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of direct experience in storage system architecture including HDD, NAND flash, and AI/ML data pipeline storage.
  • Verified track record of architectural leadership, technical contributions to open-source projects, or influence within the storage ecosystem.
  • Proven experience architecting storage systems for OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD Specifications and high-performance computing environments.
  • Deep technical knowledge of PCIe/NVMe protocols, GPUDirect Storage (GDS), FDP, ZNS, CXL, and enterprise interfaces like NVMe-oF.
  • Ability to translate AI workload behaviors into specific storage architecture and SSD product requirements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills for pitching designs and authoring technical specifications.
