Staff Engineer, AI Platform Enablement and Emerging Applications will lead SSD enablement activities for next-generation AI and compute platforms from major industry partners like NVIDIA and AMD. The role involves owning end-to-end platform engagement, including sample planning, qualification, system validation, and production readiness. You will serve as the primary technical interface for customer engineering teams while coordinating internally with firmware, hardware, and validation organizations to resolve complex issues involving PCIe, NVMe, thermal, and power. Additionally, you will identify and incubate emerging AI storage applications such as KV cache, GPU-direct I/O, and agentic AI by conducting feasibility studies and proof-of-concept activities. Required expertise includes enterprise SSDs, server architecture, and high-performance networking. You must possess strong technical judgment to navigate the complexities of data-intensive workloads within large-scale infrastructure environments while managing multiple concurrent programs.

What you'll do

  • Lead SSD enablement and qualification activities for next-generation NVIDIA, AMD, and other strategic AI compute platforms.
  • Manage NPI execution including sample planning, allocation, validation milestones, and production readiness for major programs.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for customer engineering teams during platform integration and qualification.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve system-level issues involving PCIe/NVMe, firmware, thermal, power, and performance.
  • Translate emerging AI storage signals into technical evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and new product opportunities.
  • Identify and evaluate new data-intensive workloads such as KV cache, GPU-direct I/O, and agentic AI.
  • Monitor competitor activities and ecosystem trends to identify potential technology gaps and innovation opportunities.
  • Provide executive reporting on platform status, qualification risks, and technical issues to internal leadership.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 10+ years experience.
  • Master’s degree with 8+ years experience or a PhD with 5+ years experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in enterprise SSD, server platform, storage system, semiconductor, or data center infrastructure engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting server, accelerator, or data center platform qualification and NPI programs.
  • Strong technical understanding of enterprise SSDs, PCIe, NVMe, server architecture, firmware, performance, power, thermal behavior, and system-level interoperability.
  • Working knowledge of modern AI and hyperscale infrastructure, including GPU-based systems and high-performance networking.
  • Proven ability to investigate and coordinate resolution of complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, software, and platform boundaries.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
