Staff Data Engineer

What you'll do

• Set the architecture and roadmap for the metrics platform from ingestion to the semantic layer.
• Design and scale data models and pipelines to process billions of records into trusted datasets.
• Evolve the semantic layer and build APIs and tools for people and AI agents to navigate metric definitions.
• Lead metric certification, governance, and design reviews for the organization.
• Mentor senior engineers and use AI-assisted development to deliver high-quality technical results.
• Define and govern metrics with consistent quality and clear service level agreements across departments.

What we're looking for

• You must have 10+ years of software or data engineering experience.
• You must have 6+ years of hands-on experience with data architecture, data modeling, and metadata management.
• You must have deep SQL expertise, strong Python skills, and working proficiency in Go, Java, or Scala.
• You must have hands-on experience with Spark, Trino, Airflow, Iceberg, and Snowflake.
• You must have experience with dimensional and star/snowflake modeling.
• A related technical degree is required.
• You should have experience building infrastructure or tools for AI agents, such as MCP servers or tool-use APIs (preferred).
• You should have experience with semantic layers, metrics platforms, or lineage tools such as dbt, sqlmesh, Datahub, Cube, or LookML (preferred).
