Senior Thermal Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Perform preliminary thermal analysis on spacecraft and subsystems for orbital operational conditions.
• Conduct detailed analyses of active thermal control systems and hardware tradeoffs.
• Optimize designs for performance, mass, and cost while meeting system reliability requirements.
• Lead and execute thermal cycling and thermal vacuum tests at subsystem and vehicle levels.
• Define and select necessary test equipment including TVAC chambers, sensors, and data logging tools.
• Conduct testing on prototypes and engineering models to provide fast design feedback.
• Develop and execute reliability plans to demonstrate the lifetime of active components.
• Document design evolution and present results during formal design reviews.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, refugee, or granted asylum.
• 5+ years of experience with thermal control of spacecraft optimized for mass, cost, reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
• 3+ years of experience with thermal simulation software (e.g., Thermal Desktop, Ansys) and programming (e.g., Python, Matlab).
• 3+ years of experience with test planning, test set-up, results correlation, and system verification for production.
• 3+ years of experience in development and/or selection of passive and active thermal control hardware.
• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
• Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent (preferred).
