The Sr. System Analyst – GM Defense IT joins the GM Defense IT team to support business and technology initiatives that ensure secure, scalable, and compliant solutions. This role involves gathering requirements, analyzing processes, and translating business needs into actionable solution designs across manufacturing, SAP, vehicle engineering, and supply chain domains. You will lead cross-functional initiatives, document data flows, and manage system integrations while ensuring compliance with government-regulated program requirements. Key skills include systems analysis, requirements definition, and data analysis within defense or aerospace environments. You must navigate complex regulatory frameworks including CUI, ITAR, EAR, and NIST standards. Proficiency in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies is required to support the delivery of robust IT software applications and infrastructure improvements in a highly controlled industrial context.
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and workflows to create detailed solution designs.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to support engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and SAP priorities.
Identify and communicate necessary changes to systems, processes, data flows, and operational procedures.
Ensure all delivered solutions meet GM standards and government defense regulatory requirements.
Identify project risks, dependencies, compliance considerations, and integration impacts across operational activities.
Support issue triage, investigation, and resolution for complex production problems and system inquiries.
Use data analysis to demonstrate value and influence decision-making across various stakeholder groups.
Coach and mentor less experienced team members as a functional resource.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of experience in systems analysis, business systems analysis, IT software applications, requirements definition, process definition, testing, or IT strategy and roadmap development.
Experience gathering requirements, conducting data analysis, understanding business strategy needs, and driving work toward solution design and execution.
Experience in regulated or government-contract environments such as defense, aerospace, or other highly controlled industries.
Demonstrated ability to work independently on significant matters, solve complex problems, and implement practical solutions with minimal guidance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and tailor technical discussions to the right audience.
Ability to coach less experienced team members and contribute as a resource across the team.
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to export control restrictions.
