Sr. System Analyst – GM Defense IT
The Sr. System Analyst joins the GM Defense IT team to support business and technology initiatives that ensure secure, scalable, and compliant solutions across the defense division. This individual contributor role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, SAP, vehicle engineering, and supply chain to gather requirements, analyze processes, and translate complex needs into actionable solution designs. The successful candidate will manage data flows, identify risks, and oversee system improvements while ensuring compliance with government-regulated program requirements. Key competencies include systems analysis, requirement definition, and experience in highly regulated environments like aerospace or defense. Technical expertise includes SAP-enabled business processes, Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies. The role focuses on solving non-standard problems and navigating complex regulatory constraints such as ITAR and CUI to deliver high-performance outcomes within a strictly controlled government-contract environment.
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and workflows to create actionable solution designs.
Translate complex business needs into technical specifications for manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering systems.
Identify and communicate necessary changes in data flows and processes to improve operational performance.
Ensure all technology solutions comply with government defense regulations and internal GM standards.
Manage risk assessment, dependency tracking, and integration impacts across various project lifecycles.
Triage and resolve complex technical issues and production problems for high-priority systems.
Use data analysis to influence stakeholder decisions and justify proposed system improvements.
Mentor junior team members and serve as a subject matter expert for the IT department.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of experience in systems analysis, business systems analysis, IT software applications, requirements definition, process definition, testing, or IT strategy and roadmap development.
Experience gathering requirements, conducting data analysis, understanding business strategy needs, and driving work toward solution design and execution.
Experience in regulated or government-contract environments such as defense, aerospace, or other highly controlled industries.
Ability to work independently on significant matters, solve complex problems, and implement practical solutions with minimal guidance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across cross-functional teams and tailor technical discussions for various audiences.
Ability to coach less experienced team members and serve as a knowledgeable resource across the function.
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to export control restrictions.
