TL;DR · Senior Supplier Development Engineer, Data Center

Sr. Supplier Development Engineer, Data Center (Starlink) is a cross-functional role focused on developing, driving, and maintaining suppliers from initial concept through full-scale production for advanced data center infrastructure. The engineer will manage complex rack-level solutions involving mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software integration while ensuring reliability, availability, and serviceability. Key responsibilities include designing accelerated test plans, leading design FMEA sessions, overseeing first article inspection reports, and managing supplier process modifications. The role requires expertise in hardware components like PDUs, cooling systems, and high-density compute integration. Candidates should possess a degree in engineering and experience with data center manufacturing. Preferred skills include proficiency in Python and JMP for statistical analysis, thermal analysis of cooling systems, and failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, FIB, X-ray, cross-sectioning, and EDX.

What you'll do

  • Own complex rack-level solutions across mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software integration domains.
  • Integrate Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) principles into data center architecture to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Provide technical guidance on infrastructure including PDUs, cooling systems, airflow design, and high-density compute.
  • Design accelerated test plans for design validation, burn-in testing, and environmental stress screening.
  • Lead design FMEA sessions to assess hardware risks and determine validation test plans.
  • Develop hardware qualification criteria and drive system-level optimization for high-volume installation.
  • Manage supplier processes including the approval of first article inspection (FAI) and production part approval (PPAP) reports.
  • Source parts by evaluating supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems to match components with supplier competencies.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data center hardware design, integration, or manufacturing.
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in hyperscale or large-scale data center development and complex rack solutions is preferred.
  • Proficiency in statistical data analysis using tools such as JMP and Python.
  • Working knowledge of failure analysis techniques including optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, FIB, X-ray, cross-sectioning, and EDX.
  • Experience in thermal analysis and data center cooling systems.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
