TL;DR · Senior Supplier Development Engineer, Data Center

As a Sr. Supplier Development Engineer, Data Center (Starlink), you will join a cross-functional team to develop, drive, and maintain suppliers from initial concept through full-scale production. You will manage complex rack-level solutions involving mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software integration domains. Your daily work involves analyzing hardware using first principles, integrating Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) into infrastructure architecture, and designing accelerated test plans for design validation and environmental stress screening. You will provide technical guidance on power distribution units, cooling systems, and high-density compute integration while overseeing supplier process modifications and quality reports. The role requires expertise in hardware qualification, root cause corrective actions, and statistical data analysis using tools like JMP and Python. You will solve critical infrastructure challenges to ensure resilient, high-performing data center operations for advanced technical facilities.

What you'll do

  • Analyze data center hardware and processes using a first principles, physics-based approach.
  • Own complex rack-level solutions across mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software domains.
  • Integrate Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) principles into data center architecture to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Provide technical guidance on infrastructure including PDUs, cooling systems, airflow design, and high-density compute integration.
  • Design accelerated test plans for design validation, burn-in testing, and environmental stress screening.
  • Lead design FMEA sessions to assess hardware risks and determine validation test plans.
  • Develop hardware qualification criteria and drive system-level optimization for high-volume installation.
  • Manage supplier processes including the approval of first article inspection (FAI) and production part approval (PPAP) reports.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data center hardware design, integration, or manufacturing.
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience focused on hyperscale or large-scale data center development and execution of complex rack solutions.
  • Proficiency in statistical data analysis using tools such as JMP and Python.
  • Working knowledge of failure analysis techniques including optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, FIB, X-ray, cross-sectioning, and EDX.
  • Experience in thermal analysis and data center cooling systems.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
