As a Sr. Staff CPU Software Test Engineer, you will join the software engineering team to design, develop, and validate embedded and cloud edge software for mobile, compute, and automotive environments. You will be responsible for creating firmware test plans, ensuring requirements traceability, and developing automated test suites to verify quality at functional, integration, and system levels. Your daily work involves executing manual tests for customer experience, assisting in continuous integration and deployment processes, and performing workload analysis to achieve production-level software readiness. The role requires proficiency in C, C++, Java, or Python, with specific expertise in Ubuntu Server, RHEL, SUSE, or Windows server operating systems. You will address technical challenges involving BIOS/UEFI, BMC firmware, and ARM64-based server platforms while optimizing for power and performance across x86, ARM64, and RISC-V 64bit architectures.
Create software and firmware test plans based on requirements traceability and feature coverage.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for functional, integration, and system levels.
Manually test the customer experience of hardware and software deployment in mobile, compute, and automotive environments.
Develop Quality Engineering and Release Engineering processes with a focus on CI/CD.
Perform workload analysis and create models to ensure production-level software readiness.
Execute bring-up, debugging, and diagnostics in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Optimize existing operating systems for improved power and performance metrics.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience, Master's with 5+ years, or PhD with 4+ years in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
3+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
8+ years of experience in Software/Firmware Validation (preferred).
At least 5 years of software test engineering experience with a focus on Data Center Servers (preferred).
Strong understanding and experience in software/firmware test automation techniques (preferred).
Extensive experience working with operating systems like Ubuntu Server, RHEL, SUSE, or Windows server (preferred).
Experience developing automated software/firmware test cases for server platforms to support bring-up and production releases (preferred).
Prior experience with BIOS/UEFI, BMC firmware, or OS integration for x86/ARM64/RISC-V 64bit server platforms; and understanding of ARM64-based server standards (preferred).
