What you'll do

  • Conduct rigorous design reviews to evaluate architectural trade-offs and ensure system scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Maintain active technical credibility by identifying risks and upholding high standards for code quality and maintainability.
  • Drive alignment with cross-functional partners in Product, Compliance, Privacy, and Program Management teams.
  • Oversee operational excellence including 24/7 on-call processes, incident response, and capacity planning.
  • Champion a culture of engineering excellence through structured feedback and continuous improvement of internal practices.

What we're looking for

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience and 8+ years of direct engineering management including leading other managers.
  • Experience with JVM-based languages, microservices architectures, and high-availability server-side services.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, SQL/NoSQL data stores, consistency models, and multi-region deployment topologies.
  • Ability to lead technical design reviews, evaluate trade-offs, and manage operational excellence like on-call and incident response.
  • Strong communication skills to navigate ambiguity and build trust with cross-functional partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Domain experience in payments, commerce, or financial services (preferred).
  • Master's degree (preferred).
