Senior Engineering Leader, Foundation Data Platform - Wallet, Payments & Commerce

What you'll do

• Define the strategy for what to build, extend, or consume from Apple's central data platform.
• Influence and shape central platform roadmaps through well-formed requirements and cross-functional partnerships.
• Maintain technical depth during design reviews regarding identity, lineage, schema contracts, and observability.
• Build and develop a high-performing team of engineers and leaders with complementary strengths.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of multi-quarter programs measured by adoption, data freshness, and cost efficiency.
• Establish and maintain on-call, SLO, and incident management practices for high-stakes commerce systems.
• Ensure all data infrastructure adheres to strict privacy, security, and governance standards.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Seasoned leadership experience in software and platform engineering, including managing teams with engineering managers and senior/staff ICs.
• Demonstrated ownership of petabyte-scale data systems in production environments.
• Proven experience building on, extending, and influencing the roadmap of shared or central platforms not owned by your team.
• Hands-on background in distributed processing, streaming, and large-scale storage to lead technical direction credibly.
• Track record of hiring, growing engineering talent, and building durable team structures.
• Demonstrated delivery of multi-quarter programs with significant cross-organizational dependencies.
• Excellent written communication skills to drive alignment through structured documentation.
• Experience leading teams serving both real-time and batch consumers on a unified data foundation (preferred).
• Background in commerce, partner, payments, or supply chain data domains (preferred).
• Familiarity with federated data ownership and data mesh models (preferred).
• Demonstrated cost efficiency at scale without regressing reliability or developer experience (preferred).
