Senior Software Engineer, Routing Platform & Infrastructure

What you'll do

• Manage the lifecycle of management frameworks to ensure interoperability between hardware and pluggable optics.
• Integrate control-plane and datapath logic to ensure NPU and ASIC designs deliver peak performance.
• Architect Linux-based embedded solutions for the integration of hardware optics and PHY layers.
• Design diagnostic and telemetry infrastructure to ensure network observability and autonomy.
• Lead the end-to-end design of medium-scope features as a technical steward for the software roadmap.
• Perform code reviews and provide technical mentorship to elevate team knowledge.
• Create comprehensive user documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must be local to Milpitas for a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the office.
• A Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience, a Master's with 4+ years, or a PhD with 1+ year is required in CS, EE, or a related field.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and Python is required.
• Experience in data structures and algorithms is required.
• Experience in embedded systems development and Linux OS programming is required.
• Experience in platform infrastructure or optics software development is required.
• Preferred experience includes coherent optics (ZR/ZR+), PHY/SerDes, FEC, ASIC/NPU, and DSP-based systems.
• Familiarity with CMIS/SFF standards and experience with IOS-XR, SONiC, FBOSS, or similar NOS platforms are preferred.
