As a Staff Software Engineer on the Compute Platform team within the Platform Product Group, you will own the routing layer connecting every service to customers. You will design and deliver new routing capabilities to improve scalability, reliability, and performance for application traffic across the fleet. Your daily work involves designing, developing, and automating infrastructure that directs traffic to Kubernetes backends at scale while building features on Envoy-based reverse proxies, Istio gateways, Ambient mesh, and SPIFFE service authentication. You will also shape the paved-road developer experience using AI-driven tooling. What we're looking for
8+ years of experience in software engineering and infrastructure roles.
5+ years of hands-on engineering experience with application routing technologies including reverse proxies, ingress controllers, CDN/WAF, and service mesh.
Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java for building and shipping production-grade infrastructure services.
Demonstrated experience scaling backend infrastructure on AWS with knowledge of networking, compute, and container orchestration.
Deep familiarity with the CNCF ecosystem including Kubernetes, Envoy, and Istio.
Proven ability to diagnose complex distributed systems issues and drive them to resolution independently.
Experience utilizing generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency and quality in infrastructure workflows.
