The Sr. Machine Learning Manager, AI, Search & Knowledge Platforms joins the Search & Recommendation Platforms team to lead a group of backend infrastructure and ML engineers. Candidates must demonstrate strong coding skills in algorithms and data structures, experience with RAG, and the ability to manage complex programs involving petabytes of data and real time evaluation pipelines.

What you'll do

Lead and manage a team of backend infrastructure and machine learning engineers.
Define the technical roadmap for large-scale indexing and serving systems.
Drive execution against aggressive scale, reliability, latency, and cost targets.
Oversee the processing and retrieval of billions of documents across petabytes of data.
Manage the architecture for LLM-powered search, including semantic and multimodal retrieval.
Develop real-time evaluation pipelines to measure search quality and performance.
Partner with cross-functional teams to prioritize product features and infrastructure improvements.
Drive developer velocity and quality improvements across large engineering organizations.

What we're looking for

Deep expertise in web scale indexing systems, including distributed document processing, storage, and retrieval.
Strong coding skills and a background in algorithms and data structures.
10+ years of experience leading and driving complex, large scale search infrastructure projects.
Experience managing managers and engineering teams, including hiring, growth, and performance management.
Track record of scaling engineering teams across multiple sites and geographies.
Strong technical judgment to drive architecture, execution, and cross-functional alignment across complex programs.
BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience with RAG, agentic search, evaluation infrastructure, LLM inference, and search quality metrics (preferred).
