Sr. Linux Engineer - DNS and Global Server Load Balancing, Infrastructure Services joins the Infrastructure Services team to manage critical network operations. This senior individual-contributor role serves as a technical anchor for Edge Services, where you will operate and extend distributed Linux infrastructure across numerous global data centers and points of presence. You will treat infrastructure as code to ensure predictable deployments while building automation tools in Python, Go, Rust, or Swift to eliminate operational toil. Key responsibilities include managing authoritative DNS and global server load balancing systems, defining service-level objectives, and performing capacity planning for hardware lifecycles. The role requires expertise in Linux internals, networking fundamentals like BGP and anycast routing, and configuration management tools such as Salt, Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform to maintain high-performance connectivity at the front door of global services.

What you'll do

  • Operate and extend bare-metal and cloud Linux infrastructure across global sites using infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Manage the reliability, performance, and incident response for authoritative DNS and global server load balancing systems.
  • Define service-level objectives, alerting rules, and dashboards to provide visibility into distributed system health.
  • Develop automation tools in Python, Go, Rust, or Swift to eliminate manual operational tasks.
  • Plan fleet capacity, growth, and hardware lifecycle management across geographically distributed data centers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve architecture and tooling.
  • Participate in a 24x7 production on-call rotation to ensure continuous service availability.

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience operating Linux systems in production, including software deployment and CI/CD workflows.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals with hands-on experience troubleshooting TCP/UDP and layer 2–3 issues.
  • Experience with configuration management or infrastructure-as-code tools like Salt, Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language for automation, such as Python, Go, Rust, or Swift.
  • Willingness to participate in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Extensive experience with large-scale infrastructure, anycast routing, BGP, and Linux internals (preferred).
