As a Sr Lead Software Engineer Java/Python within Finance Technology, you will provide technical coaching, oversight, and direction for multiple teams of engineers. You are responsible for the end-to-end design and development of software solutions, from initial requirements to production deployment. Your daily work involves building backend services using Java, Python, and Spring, while delivering full-stack capabilities with React. You will also design data pipelines using Databricks and Spark patterns, and build cloud-native solutions on AWS utilizing EMR, Glue, ECS/EKS, RDS, Lambda, and Step Functions. A core part of this role involves scaling AI-assisted engineering practices and integrating LLM-powered features like retrieval workflows and copilots. You will serve as a technical owner for key components, ensuring high standards for code quality, performance, security, and reliability within the financial services domain.
Provide technical coaching and oversight for teams of entry-level to mid-level software engineers.
Set and scale operating practices for AI-assisted engineering and SDLC automation across multiple teams.
Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of software solutions from requirements to production.
Serve as a technical owner for key components, driving architecture, code quality, performance, and security.

What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
At least 2 years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
Experience leading teams of technologists, including hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
Experience leading multi-team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools and ensuring responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
Strong hands-on coding experience with Java or Python, including Spring for backend service development.
Full stack development experience, including React and modern web development practices.
Practical cloud-native engineering experience on AWS using services like EMR, Glue, ECS/EKS, RDS, Lambda, and Step Functions.
Experience with data engineering, ETL, and Databricks (Spark-based patterns) and knowledge of the services industry.
Experience working in a large Banking or Financial Services Technology environment (preferred).
