Candidates should possess skills in floor planning, timing optimizations, and standard network protocols like IPv4, UDP, and TCP/IP. This position focuses on advancing torpedo performance by developing electronic assemblies and SONAR arrays for naval applications.

What you'll do

  • Architect, design, and document FPGA firmware hierarchies, components, interfaces, and data flows.
  • Develop, simulate, and test firmware components in preparation for system integration.
  • Define FPGA timing, pinout, and placement constraints while reviewing synthesis and timing reports.
  • Integrate and test firmware on target hardware using FPGA tools and laboratory equipment.
  • Document failures, identify root causes, implement fixes, and maintain configuration management documentation.
  • Collaborate with design and electrical engineering teams to identify schematic updates and hardware reworks.
  • Implement custom VHDL components containing state machines, synchronous/asynchronous logic, and external interfaces.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree plus 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Experience implementing FPGA firmware including custom VHDL components with state machines and synchronous/asynchronous logic (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Xilinx (AMD) and/or Altera (Intel) compiler, programming, and debug tools (preferred).
  • Familiarity with floor planning and timing optimizations (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of standard network protocols such as IPv4, UDP, and TCP/IP (preferred).
