The Distinguished Engineer, Infrastructure Engineering, Wallet, Payments & Commerce joins the Infrastructure Engineering team to serve as a technical authority defining the vision for core infrastructure. This role involves architecting and governing transactional and analytical data platforms, cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure across AWS and comparable platforms, and global traffic management systems. The engineer will establish standards for data durability, consistency, replication, and recovery while designing load balancing, routing, and failover strategies to maintain payment availability. Key responsibilities include championing chaos engineering, defining SLO/SLA frameworks, and setting observability standards. The position requires deep expertise in distributed data systems, networking, and high-trust financial systems. The work focuses on building resilient, scalable, and compliant infrastructure for high-volume transaction processing and global money movement.
Define and govern transactional and analytical data platforms to meet financial and regulatory requirements.
Architect cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure across AWS and other platforms for resilience and scalability.
Design global traffic management architecture including load balancing, routing, and failover strategies.
Champion chaos engineering, disaster recovery, and design-time reliability practices for financial-grade infrastructure.
Set end-to-end observability standards and define measurable health indicators across the infrastructure stack.
Serve as the senior technical authority to drive architectural alignment and mentor senior engineering talent.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of deep expertise in infrastructure engineering, distributed data systems, cloud-native architecture, and traffic or networking systems at massive scale.
15+ years of experience across engineering including distributed data systems, cloud-native architecture, and traffic or networking systems at massive scale (preferred).
Proven experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems serving millions of users or high-volume transactions.
Demonstrated expertise in data platforms, including consistency, durability, replication, and recovery for systems where correctness is critical.
Experience designing traffic management, load balancing, routing, or edge delivery for high-availability, multi-region systems.
Experience defining SLO and SLA frameworks and resilience strategies for mission-critical systems.
Track record of technical leadership, driving alignment across large organizations, and mentoring technical talent.
