Distinguished Engineer, Infrastructure Engineering, Wallet, Payments & Commerce

What you'll do

• Define and govern transactional and analytical data platforms ensuring integrity, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
• Architect cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure across multiple providers to ensure scalability and cost-efficiency.
• Design global traffic management systems including load balancing, routing, and failover strategies for payment availability.
• Establish chaos engineering practices, disaster recovery protocols, and SLO/SLA standards for financial-grade infrastructure.
• Set end-to-end observability standards and define measurable health indicators across the entire infrastructure stack.
• Serve as the primary technical authority to align engineering teams and leverage Apple-wide capabilities.
• Mentor Principal and Senior Engineers while driving architectural direction across large, complex organizations.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of expertise in infrastructure engineering, distributed data systems, cloud-native architecture, and traffic or networking systems at scale.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed systems serving millions of users or high-volume transactions.
• Expertise in cloud-native and hybrid architectures on AWS or comparable platforms for scalability and resilience.
• Proficiency in data platform management including consistency, durability, replication, and recovery for critical systems.
• Experience designing traffic management, load balancing, routing, and edge delivery for multi-region systems.
• Proven track record of technical leadership, mentoring talent, and driving architectural direction across complex organizations.
• Experience building high-trust or regulated systems with an understanding of compliance implications.
