Sr. Director, Software Engineering leads enterprise-scale engineering teams within the Commercial Platform Engineering group to oversee the strategy, architecture, development, and delivery of modern commercial payments platforms. This leader manages the full lifecycle of critical payment acceptance capabilities for suppliers and partners while driving modernization, cloud transformation, and automation initiatives. The role focuses on building secure, scalable, and resilient distributed systems, including microservices, API platforms, and event-driven architectures. Key responsibilities include championing GenAI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer productivity, managing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring data governance across high-volume transaction-processing systems. Lead engineering teams in the design, development, and production support of large-scale distributed payment platforms.
Define the technical strategy for platform performance, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
Drive cloud transformation initiatives and establish standards for automation and cross-platform integration.
Implement GenAI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer productivity and code quality.
Manage the end-to-end delivery of enterprise infrastructure projects from roadmap planning through execution.
Oversee CI/CD pipelines, testing modernization, and release governance across multiple engineering teams.
Partner with executive stakeholders to align technology investments with business goals and resolve escalations.
Mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams while establishing metrics for quality and reliability.
What we're looking for
Must have 12+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, or 15+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred: 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 12 years with an Advanced Degree (Master's, MBA, JD, MD), or PhD with 9+ years of experience.
Significant experience leading software engineering, platform engineering, or technology delivery organizations at scale (preferred).
Proven background managing managers and senior technical leaders across complex enterprise technology environments (preferred).
Deep experience architecting and delivering large-scale distributed systems, APIs, microservices, event-driven platforms, or high-volume transaction processing (preferred).
Experience leading cloud modernization, automation, CI/CD, DevOps, and GenAI-assisted engineering practices (preferred).
Strong knowledge of security, resiliency, performance engineering, observability, data governance, and infrastructure operations (preferred).
Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
