The Sr. Director, Data Center Strategic Design and Product leads a new multidisciplinary function within the OCI team to define the global AI and cloud infrastructure footprint. This leader builds and scales a team of engineers across mechanical, electrical, controls, thermal, and systems design to establish long-term infrastructure innovation and strategic technical direction. Key responsibilities include developing scalable reference architectures for ultra-high-density deployments, creating technology roadmaps, and owning the end-to-end strategic design vision for next-generation data centers. The role requires deep expertise in hyperscale data center infrastructure, liquid cooling technologies, advanced power architecture, and intelligent controls systems. The position solves complex technical problems regarding energy efficiency, grid integration, and power conversion for AI workloads while ensuring operational reliability, resiliency, and automation-first design across global deployments.
Define the future-state design strategy for global AI and cloud infrastructure footprint.
Establish and lead a new function for data center design, controls, and power innovation.
Build a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning mechanical, electrical, controls, and thermal systems.
Develop scalable reference architectures for ultra-high-density deployments and liquid cooling technologies.
Create long-range technology roadmaps for power architecture, energy efficiency, and grid integration.
Lead the evaluation, selection, and qualification of critical infrastructure technologies and proprietary capabilities.
Define standards for integrated controls architectures across cooling, monitoring, and energy management systems.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure design scalability, reliability, and automation readiness.
What we're looking for
Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Data Center Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
15+ years of experience in hyperscale data center infrastructure, critical facilities engineering, controls engineering, power systems, or cloud infrastructure design (preferred).
8+ years of leadership experience building and scaling high-performing engineering or infrastructure organizations (preferred).
Deep expertise in hyperscale data center design, including high-density compute, liquid cooling, and advanced power infrastructure (preferred).
Demonstrated experience leading large-scale infrastructure innovation initiatives from concept through deployment (preferred).
Experience designing infrastructure for AI supercomputing or GPU-intensive environments (preferred).
Experience developing global design and controls standards for hyperscale cloud providers or large-scale colocation operators (preferred).
