Senior Design Engineer, Spectrum Desktop

What you'll do

• Modernize Drover’s UI foundations to create fast and polished native experiences for desktop products.
• Shape framework capabilities, APIs, and abstractions to help product teams ship consistent user interfaces.
• Prototype, validate, and ship new UI capabilities in collaboration with design and engineering teams.
• Build automation, validation, and performance systems to ensure quality is measurable at scale.
• Implement technical solutions for layout, animation, motion, rendering, and theming within the Spectrum design system.
• Participate in design and code reviews to establish high standards for UI craft.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools while maintaining strict standards for performance and correctness.

What we're looking for

• Must have 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Must possess deep production C++ expertise.
• Requires strong systems-design experience including framework or platform architecture.
• Must have depth in at least one UI framework area such as layout, animation, rendering, theming, or performance.
• Experience building cross-platform software for Windows and macOS is required.
• Must demonstrate a track record of solving complex technical problems while maintaining fast, reliable, and maintainable code.
• Requires design sensibility and strong communication skills to align with design and engineering teams.
• Proficiency in Objective-C, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python is preferred.
