The Sr Advanced Space Systems Engineer joins the GD Mission Systems team to analyze, design, develop, and test complex systems. This role focuses on ensuring the integration of software, hardware, reliability, and safety requirements throughout the total engineering effort. Required technical skills include experience with Detection and Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory. Preferred tools and languages include MATLAB, Python, SysML, MagicDraw, and Cameo. The work involves developing space payloads, SmallSats, and CubeSats while utilizing Monte Carlo analysis and Phased Array or Beam Forming.

What you'll do

Analyze, design, develop, and test space systems to ensure software and hardware integration.
Perform requirements analysis, definition, management, and functional and performance analysis.
Conduct system design, trade studies, and interface definition studies for system elements.
Formulate operational concepts and perform mission, cost-benefit, and risk analyses.
Develop signal processing architectures and overall system architectures for space-based systems.
Execute systems integration, verification, and validation testing.
Utilize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools for requirements management and system modeling.
Lead the systems development life cycle from initial concept through hardware integration and testing.

What we're looking for

U.S. citizenship is required.
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire.
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field.
8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
Agile experience (preferred).
Experience with Digital Engineering/MBSE/SySML/MagicDraw/Cameo (preferred).
Experience in Python (highly preferred).
Experience with SmallSats, CubeSats, or Space Payloads (preferred).
