The Advanced Space Systems Engineer joins the GDMS team to analyze, design, develop, and test systems ensuring the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, and safety. The role involves requirements analysis, functional and performance analysis, system design, trade studies, and verification through systems integration and testing. You will work on space-based systems featuring digital signal processing algorithms for statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements using Detection and Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory. Key technical tools and skills include MATLAB, Python, and Model Based Systems Engineering using SysML or MagicDraw. The role addresses complex problems in space payloads, SmallSats, CubeSats, and radar processing to mitigate RF effects. Candidates may also utilize hardware-in-the-loop systems integration, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines to develop solutions for advanced space-based communication and signal processing architectures.
Analyze, design, develop, and test systems to ensure integration of software, hardware, reliability, and safety.
Perform requirements analysis, definition, management, functional analysis, and performance analysis for space systems.
Conduct trade studies, system design, and interface definition studies for various system elements.
Formulate operational concepts and perform mission, cost-benefit, and risk analyses.
Develop signal processing architectures and overall system architectures for space-based hardware and software.
Execute systems integration, verification, and validation of complex engineering components.
Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to manage the systems development life cycle.
What we're looking for
U.S. citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance within a reasonable amount of time.
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree and at least 3 years of experience.
Experience with digital signal processing algorithm development for statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements is preferred.
Working knowledge of MATLAB for DSP, Radar Processing, Monte Carlo analysis, or Phased Array/Beam Forming is a plus.
Experience in Python, SmallSats, CubeSats, and hardware prototype development is preferred.
Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like MagicDraw or Cameo is preferred.
Experience in Space Payloads Design, Development, or Integration and Test is preferred.
