Specialist, FRACAS Systems Engineer will join a multi-disciplined engineering development team to improve the reliability of Department of Defense communication systems, including wideband, narrowband, and SATCOM products. The role involves managing the Failure Reporting Analysis & Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process by identifying failure trends in complex electronic, low volume environments. Key responsibilities include performing root cause analysis, investigating design and field failures, making recommendations to the Failure Review Board, and maintaining the FRACAS database. The candidate will also perform functional testing, troubleshoot equipment, and generate detailed repair reports for MRO and warranty units. Required skills include experience with reliability analysis, failure mode/fault tree analysis, and troubleshooting complex electronic systems. Preferred technical proficiencies include SQL and Business Objects for data mining to support various concurrent programs and ensure product reliability.
Perform root cause analysis and investigations on design, production, and field failures of communication systems.
Develop and manage the Failure Reporting Analysis & Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process for specific products.
Make technical recommendations to the Failure Review Board regarding system improvements and corrective actions.
Maintain the FRACAS database by monitoring status, tracking investigations, and generating reports for management and customers.
Prepare detailed repair reports for MRO and warranty units documenting findings and disposition recommendations.
Perform functional testing and troubleshoot complex electronic systems in assigned areas.
Present technical data to management and during customer reviews.
What we're looking for
A Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience, a Graduate degree and 2 years of related experience, or 8 years of experience without a degree.
Experience performing root cause analysis and making design improvement recommendations based on failure data.
Ability to manage the FRACAS process, including database maintenance, status monitoring, and report generation.
Proficiency in troubleshooting complex electronic systems, including data link and mechanical systems (preferred).
Familiarity with FRACAS software, Reliability Analysis, and Failure Mode/Fault Tree Analysis (preferred).
Experience supporting a FRACAS program or performing specific reliability analysis activities (preferred).
Strong background in data mining using Business Objects and SQL (preferred).
Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain the required security clearance.
