Spec, Systems Engineering joins the Communication Systems segment on a collaborative networking team to manage the full lifecycle of protected SATCOM data link systems from conceptual development through phase-out. The role involves performing critical engineering tasks including requirements management, design support, task planning, technical documentation, risk management, and integration verification. Day-to-day responsibilities include proposal support, system deployment, and providing on-call support for 24/7 operational systems. Candidates should possess skills in configuring Cisco routers and switches using IOS or IOS-XE, as well as experience with SATCOM ground infrastructure, RF, modems, and data interfaces. Technical proficiency is required in DOORS for requirements management, Microsoft Visio for drawing development, and MS Office tools. The role also involves working with Windows, Linux, VMWare, container configuration, and network security features like IP access-lists and stateful protocol inspections.
Manage the full system engineering lifecycle for protected SATCOM data link systems from development through phase-out.
Perform requirements analysis and management using tools like DOORS to ensure technical specifications are met.
Provide design oversight, synthesis, and technical documentation within a multi-functional engineering environment.
Support build, integration, and verification testing to ensure system functionality.
Configure and troubleshoot network devices, specifically Cisco routers and switches.
Provide 24/7 on-call support for operational systems during the product's lifecycle.
Manage subcontract controls and provide input on project risk management.
Develop and execute system-wide testing plans to meet quarterly release deadlines.
What we're looking for
Ability to obtain a Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.
Bachelor's degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree and 2 years of related experience, or 8 years of experience without a degree.
Experience with network device configuration and troubleshooting, ideally Cisco IOS/IOS-XE (preferred).
Professional certification specific to the networking industry such as CCNA or equivalent (preferred).
Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, equipment selection, and SATCOM data links (preferred).
Proficiency in MS Office tools including PowerPoint and Visio (preferred).
Familiarity with Windows, Linux, VMWare, and container configuration and troubleshooting (preferred).
