The Software Test Engineer - Surgical Robotics will join the team to verify real-time robotics control software for a next-generation robotic surgery system. This role involves owning verification planning and test design for software running on Linux and RTOS-based compute platforms. The engineer will design, automate, and execute tests for software interacting with motors, sensors, actuators, and controllers. Key responsibilities include investigating system behavior on real hardware, including timing performance, control-loop behavior, fault handling, and safe-state transitions. Candidates must possess practical skills in Python and C++ for test automation, debugging, and data analysis. The position requires experience in software verification for software-intensive products in regulated or safety-critical environments, specifically focusing on interpreting requirements and creating traceable verification evidence across software, controls, hardware, and system integration boundaries.
Own verification planning and test design for real-time robotics control software.
Create test plans, protocols, procedures, and traceable verification evidence.
Design, automate, and execute tests for software on Linux and RTOS platforms.
Verify software interactions with motors, sensors, actuators, and controllers.
Investigate system behavior on real hardware including timing, fault handling, and safe-state transitions.
Troubleshoot defects across software, controls, hardware, and system integration boundaries.

What we're looking for
4+ years of experience in software verification, system verification, or integration testing for software-intensive products interacting with real hardware.
Experience defining verification plans, test protocols, test procedures, test cases, and objective pass/fail criteria.
Hands-on experience with real-time or timing-sensitive software running on Linux, RTOS, or Linux with real-time extensions.
Strong practical skills in Python and C++ for test automation, debugging, data analysis, and troubleshooting hardware/software integration.
Experience working in a regulated or safety-critical environment creating traceable verification evidence.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent.
Must reside in or within commuting distance to Cambridge, MA.
US work authorization is a precondition of employment.
