Software Technical Program Manager
As part of the Air Defense team, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for managing complex programs involving networked sensors and effectors designed to detect, track, and defeat UAS threats. You will act as the primary technical liaison for clients, translating strategic goals into actionable project plans while coordinating between engineering, hardware, product, and test operations teams. Your daily work involves overseeing resource allocation, managing incident responses using data-driven metrics, and drafting technical proposals to scope new opportunities. The role requires a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and systems engineering within the defense and aerospace domains. You will utilize tools like JIRA and Confluence to navigate ambiguity and ensure project milestones are met. Success in this role depends on your ability to manage cross-functional collaboration to deliver mission-critical capabilities in challenging environments.
Act as the primary technical liaison for clients to translate their needs into engineering requirements.
Manage incident response and use performance metrics to identify and quantify system improvements.
Translate strategic business goals into actionable project plans with clear milestones and resource allocations.
Execute on broad or ambiguous requirements from external clients while maintaining high ownership of results.
Manage, unblock, and accelerate cross-functional projects involving hardware, product, and test operations teams.
Draft technical proposals to ensure new projects are accurately scoped and aligned with organizational goals.
What we're looking for
Proven customer-facing technical program management or systems engineering experience in defense, national security, or aerospace domains (preferred).
7+ years of experience leading a technical team of peers to field hardware or software products to real operating environments.
Solid technical aptitude to understand designs, the software development lifecycle, and associated risks while working with engineering teams.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across various levels of technical expertise.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, or related field (preferred); experience with JIRA, Confluence, and data-driven decision making (preferred).
