What you'll do

• Build systems that combine AI reasoning with deterministic execution to complete complex workflows reliably.
• Develop recovery and verification capabilities so agents can adapt to changes and identify when human intervention is needed.
• Create backend services featuring robust workflow state management, failure handling, and secure access to customer environments.
• Design and implement evaluations and diagnostics to measure task success and identify regressions.
• Work directly with customers to prototype solutions and turn their feedback into core product improvements.
• Own technical decisions for substantial components from initial design through production deployment.
• Evaluate model selection, tool use, and context management based on reliability, latency, and cost.
• Mentor peers through design discussions, code reviews, and the hiring process.

What we're looking for

• Experience owning a substantial backend service or system through design, deployment, production failures, and subsequent improvements.
• Hands-on experience building and evaluating LLM-powered systems, including assessing quality and failure modes.
• Ability to reason through concurrency, persistent state, retries, and partial failures in systems performing consequential actions.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Ability to translate unclear customer problems into bounded technical approaches and carry them through to production.
• Experience with agent tool use, code generation, automated recovery, or evaluation frameworks (preferred).
• Experience with browser automation, workflow orchestration, or enterprise integrations (preferred).
• Experience building an early-stage product or working in a customer-facing engineering role (preferred).
