What you'll do

• Build systems that combine AI reasoning with deterministic execution to complete complex workflows reliably.
• Develop recovery and verification capabilities so agents can adapt to changes and recognize when human intervention is needed.
• Build backend services with robust workflow state management, failure handling, and secure access to customer environments.
• Create evaluations and diagnostics to measure task success, expose regressions, and make failures understandable.
• Work alongside customers to understand their workflows, prototype solutions, and validate results in their environments.
• Turn customer findings into improvements for the core product and help move users toward self-service adoption.
• Own technical decisions for substantial components from initial design through production operation.
• Mentor peers through design discussions and code reviews while participating in the hiring process.

What we're looking for

• You have independently owned a substantial backend service or system through design, deployment, and production operation.
• You have hands-on experience building and evaluating LLM-powered systems and can explain their quality and failure modes.
• You can reason through concurrency, persistent state, retries, and partial failures in systems performing consequential actions.
• You are proficient in Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• You can translate unclear customer problems into bounded technical approaches and carry them through to production.
• You are willing to engage directly with customers to investigate problems and discuss technical tradeoffs.
• You use AI development tools thoughtfully while ensuring the correctness, security, and maintainability of shipped code.
• Experience with agent tool use, code generation, automated recovery, or evaluation frameworks (preferred).
