Software Engineer, AI Systems

What you'll do

• Design and build systems that combine AI reasoning with deterministic execution to complete complex workflows reliably.
• Develop recovery, verification, and state management capabilities to ensure agents can handle failures and adapt to changes.
• Build backend services with robust workflow management and secure access to customer environments.
• Create evaluation frameworks and diagnostics to measure task success and identify regressions in production.
• Work directly with customers to prototype solutions, validate results, and translate their needs into product features.
• Lead architectural decisions for agent execution, model selection, and infrastructure while mentoring other engineers.
• Translate ambiguous customer problems into bounded technical approaches and high-quality code.

What we're looking for

• Experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex backend systems through deployment and production failures.
• Hands-on experience shipping and operating LLM-powered systems.
• Ability to reason through concurrency, persistent state, retries, and partial failures in systems performing consequential actions.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Ability to translate unclear customer problems into bounded technical approaches and lead them through production.
• Experience with agent tool use, code generation, automated recovery, or evaluation frameworks (preferred).
• Experience with browser automation, workflow orchestration, or enterprise integrations (preferred).
• Experience building an early-stage product or working in a customer-facing engineering role (preferred).
