As a Software Engineer - Sr. Consultant level within the VCS Platform & Acceptance team, you will design, develop, and support scalable payment technologies including Virtual Cards and payables for commercial B2B product lines. You will provide senior technical leadership across architecture, engineering standards, and platform evolution while building resilient backend services and event-driven systems. The role requires a GenAI-first mindset to integrate LLMs and agentic engineering into the development lifecycle. Key technical requirements include expertise in REST APIs, gRPC, J2EE, JDBC, JMS, Spring Boot, WebFlux, and Vert.x. You will also work with MySQL, DB2, Oracle, Kafka, and Redis while utilizing CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Maven. Your daily work involves solving complex problems in the commercial money movement space by delivering high-performance, secure, and fault-tolerant software for a global customer base.
Design, document, and implement scalable backend services using REST APIs, gRPC, and microservices architecture.
Lead the architectural design and development of high-performance, fault-tolerant, and secure payment systems.
Integrate GenAI tools, LLMs, and agentic engineering workflows into daily development and production processes.
Develop and maintain robust data layers using SQL, NoSQL, and various database technologies like MySQL or Oracle.
Manage the full software development lifecycle including CI/CD automation, testing, and infrastructure monitoring.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on engineering standards and platform evolution.
Translate complex technical requirements into business terms for stakeholders to ensure product alignment.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis in collaboration with operations teams.
What we're looking for
8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 5 years with an Advanced Degree, or 2 years with a PhD, or 11+ years of total experience.
Experience with a Bachelor's, 7+ with an Advanced Degree, or 3+ with a PhD (preferred).
8+ years of relevant work experience and a Master’s degree, or 13+ years of relevant work experience (preferred).
Mandatory expertise in GenAI/LLM-driven software engineering and a "GenAI-first" leadership mindset.
Expert-level backend engineering skills including REST APIs, gRPC, J2EE, JDBC, JMS, Spring, Spring Boot, WebFlux, and Vert.x.
Proven experience in technical leadership roles involving architecture, mentoring, and designing microservices, event-driven systems, and container technologies.
Strong proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and database technologies including MySQL, DB2, Oracle, Kafka, Redis, or NoSQL.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.
