As a Software Engineer III - IBM i (AS/400) Engineer within the Digital & Platform Services team, you will join an agile team to design and deliver secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will be responsible for executing software solutions, developing high-quality production code, and troubleshooting complex technical problems while producing architecture artifacts for various business functions. Your daily work involves managing data sets to improve system architecture and utilizing enterprise-authorized AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude for refactoring and unit test creation. Technical requirements include IBM iSeries (AS/400) development, DB2 for i, LANSA, IBM MQ, and CDC Replication. You will also utilize Java, Python, SQLRPGLE, and Git version control while managing technical debt, performance tuning, and HA/DR support to ensure system resiliency across the firm's infrastructure.
Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain synchronized algorithms for large-scale systems.
Utilize enterprise-authorized AI coding tools to generate code, refactor logic, and create unit tests.
Produce architecture and design artifacts while ensuring all development constraints are met.
Analyze large, diverse datasets to identify patterns and improve system architecture and coding hygiene.
Develop and maintain applications using IBM iSeries (AS/400), DB2, and LANSA technologies.
Implement integration solutions using Java, Python, and IBM MQ for data replication.
Manage technical debt through performance tuning, HA/DR support, and proactive maintenance.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools to create, validate, and refine code for performance and security.
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
IBM iSeries (AS/400) development experience with DB2 for i components like files, views, indexes, triggers, and stored procedures.
LANSA / Visual LANSA IDE development and upgrade planning.
Experience with IBM MQ, CDC Replication (InfoSphere CDC / IIDR), and Java & Python on IBM i (PASE environment).
Proficiency in Git version control, Aldon LMI, Robot Scheduling, and ServiceNow.
Proficiency in CLP, CLLE, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, and experience with ILE concepts or web services (preferred).
