As a Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering, you will join a collaborative team to lead the design, development, and release of cable and harness assemblies from initial concept through production implementation. You will be responsible for creating essential engineering documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and product definition data. Your daily work involves performing interconnect design activities such as wire selection, shielding, grounding, and routing while managing requirements using DOORS tools. You will also interpret Interface Control Documents, manage supplier relations to resolve producibility issues, and apply specific knowledge regarding TEMPEST Red/Black separation and HEMP or EMI protection. The role requires expertise in cable design principles, conduit systems, and potentially RF and SATCOM communications to solve complex technical challenges within mission-critical defense systems for the space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains.
Lead the design, development, and release of cable and harness assemblies from concept to production.
Create and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and product definition data.
Perform interconnect design activities such as wire/connector selection, shielding, grounding, and routing.
Manage system and subsystem requirements using tools like DOORS throughout the product lifecycle.
Review and approve engineering change requests, deviations, and release packages for cable assemblies.
Resolve design, documentation, and producibility issues by interfacing directly with suppliers.
Apply TEMPEST Red/Black separation requirements and best practices to cable routing.
Implement HEMP and EMI protection designs including conduit selection and installation practices.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience, Master's/PhD and 4 years of experience, or 10 years of experience without a degree in a relevant technical field.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Experience with RF and SATCOM communications (preferred).
Experience with cable/harness design and engineering release processes (preferred).
Ability to understand, create, and maintain cable design documentation (preferred).
Knowledge of cable design principles, including routing, shielding, grounding, and connector selection (preferred).
