Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering will join a collaborative team to lead the design, development, and release of cable and harness assemblies from initial concept through production implementation. The role involves performing interconnect design activities such as wire selection, connector selection, shielding, grounding, routing, and protection. You will develop engineering documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and product definition data while managing system-level requirements using DOORS. Key responsibilities include interpreting Interface Control Documents, applying TEMPEST Red/Black separation requirements, and addressing HEMP and EMI protection through conduit selection. The position requires expertise in cable design principles and experience with RF and SATCOM communications. This role addresses mission-critical systems solutions within the defense technology sector, ensuring technical accuracy and producibility while coordinating technical teams to meet project objectives throughout the product lifecycle.
Lead the design, development, and release of cable and harness assemblies from concept through production.
Create and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and product definition data.
Perform interconnect design activities such as wire/connector selection, shielding, grounding, and routing.
Review and approve engineering change requests, deviations, and release packages for cable assemblies.
Manage system and subsystem requirements using tools like DOORS to ensure accuracy throughout the lifecycle.
Resolve design, documentation, and producibility issues by interfacing directly with suppliers.
Apply TEMPEST Red/Black separation requirements and best practices to cable routing.
Implement design protections for HEMP and EMI including conduit selection and installation practices.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience, Master's/PhD and 4 years of experience, or 10 years of experience without a degree in a relevant technical field.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Experience with RF and SATCOM communications (preferred).
Experience with cable/harness design and engineering release processes (preferred).
Ability to understand, create, and maintain cable design documentation (preferred).
Knowledge of cable design principles, including routing, shielding, grounding, and connector selection (preferred).
