The Senior Software Test Engineer joins the Cat Technology team to build quality into the Autonomy Services Platform. This role involves creating scalable automation for mission, task, command, state, and integration services to support intelligent machines and autonomous operations. You will design and build automated test frameworks for Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, event-driven services, and distributed workflows. Key responsibilities include creating API, contract, integration, and performance tests while utilizing AI-assisted coding platforms like GitHub Copilot or Cursor to accelerate test generation and failure analysis. You will validate asynchronous processing, state transitions, and idempotency while integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines. Required skills include experience with JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, WireMock, REST Assured, Cucumber, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka.
Design and build automated test frameworks for Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, and distributed workflows.
Create API, contract, integration, performance, and resilience tests for autonomy platform services.
Use AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate test generation, mock creation, and failure analysis.
Review AI-generated test code for correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with engineering standards.
Validate asynchronous processing, state transitions, retries, idempotency, and partial-failure recovery.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and define quality metrics and release-readiness criteria.
Translate requirements and service contracts into executable tests in partnership with developers and architects.
What we're looking for
Knowledge of software product testing to design, plan, and execute testing strategies for software quality.
Knowledge of system and software testing across all stages of the system lifecycle.
Knowledge of software development tools to build maintainable test frameworks and production-quality automation code.
Knowledge of integration processes to validate APIs, events, data contracts, and dependencies across distributed systems.
Knowledge of decision-making tools to analyze risks, identify failure modes, and prioritize coverage.
Hands-on experience building software test automation for backend microservices, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native applications (preferred).
Experience testing Java 17+ and Spring Boot services using tools like JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, WireMock, REST Assured, or Cucumber (preferred).
Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Kafka, and AI-assisted coding platforms (preferred).
