What you'll do

Design, implement, and optimize Elasticsearch's core storage and query engine components.
Resolve performance bottlenecks in indexing layouts, serialization formats, and resource utilization.
Improve ES|QL query processing and optimize data layouts for object storage.
Lead cross-organizational initiatives to build and develop industry-leading observability solutions.
Act as a technical subject matter expert and mentor for the wider engineering organization.
Triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests from the global community.
Write high-quality, idiomatic modern Java code for core system features.

What we're looking for

You must have strong core Java skills and a deep understanding of concurrency primitives, data structures, and algorithms.
You must have experience implementing techniques to efficiently index, store, and query time-series or logs data.
You must have experience with at least one data storage technology such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
You must be able to work autonomously in a distributed team using asynchronous and transparent communication.
You must demonstrate a proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating across functions and teams.
Experience with Elasticsearch, open source projects, or data storage technology is preferred.
Experience in database, search engine, OS, or cloud service development is preferred.
