Senior Software Engineer, Reporting Platform

What you'll do

• Design and build a reporting engine that enables users to create flexible analytical views across advertising data.
• Solve complex backend engineering challenges regarding performance, reliability, and large-scale analytical workloads.
• Create clean interfaces and abstractions to integrate new advertising channels into the platform.
• Drive software from design through production using Ruby, TypeScript, Kafka, ClickHouse, and PostgreSQL/Citus.
• Improve system architecture and engineering practices to ensure maintainability as scale and complexity grow.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the team.

What we're looking for

• Experience building and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Strong knowledge of relational database fundamentals and query performance.
• Experience designing systems for concurrent background workloads or event-driven architectures using technologies like Kafka.
• Proficiency in software design principles including abstractions, interfaces, testing, and maintainability.
• Ability to take ownership of technically challenging problems from initial design through production.
• Proven ability to mentor other engineers and provide thoughtful technical feedback.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or similar analytical/OLAP technologies (preferred).
• Interest in or experience with query generation, ASTs, compiler concepts, or DSLs (preferred).
