What you'll do

Own the end-to-end boot path including firmware, UEFI, kernel images, and NixOS system handoff.
Guarantee full hardware availability by ensuring all buses, peripherals, and network interfaces are functional at boot.
Create and maintain carrier board device trees from hardware engineering pinout and pinmux definitions.
Develop kernel, bootloader, and BSP patches to provide hardware behaviors not supported by vendor trees.
Act as the primary technical liaison to the platform organization to drive issue resolution and review upstream changes.
Sustain deployed compute generations by applying security patches and backports to maintain system stability.
Support new hardware bring-up by moving boards to a validated, production-flashable state.
Debug complex hardware issues including intermittent bus errors, thermal faults, and boot hangs.

What we're looking for

4+ years of professional software engineering with substantial embedded Linux platform, board support, or kernel-adjacent integration work.
Deep understanding of the embedded Linux boot chain, including firmware, bootloader stages, UEFI, kernel, initrd, and root filesystem mounting.
Fluency in reading and modifying DTS, DTSI, and overlays to connect pinout or pinmux specifications to custom hardware.
Ability to read, patch, and debug kernel and BSP source in C, plus proficiency in Rust or C++ for userspace services.
Practical knowledge of CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, USB, and multi-port Ethernet to troubleshoot missing or misconfigured devices.
Comfort debugging real hardware using serial consoles, boot logs, dmesg, schematics, and datasheets.
Demonstrated success driving technical work through other teams to resolve platform or vendor issues.
US person status required, with eligibility to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
Direct NVIDIA Jetson experience (preferred).
Experience with Nix or NixOS, or adjacent depth in Bazel, Buildroot, or Yocto (preferred).
Experience with secure boot, signed kernels, or measured boot on embedded platforms (preferred).
Hardware lab skills including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, bus analyzers, or JTAG (preferred).
Upstream Linux kernel contributions (preferred).
Python for bring-up scripting, test automation, and generating device trees (preferred).
