Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer, Robotics Platform

What you'll do

• Manage the end-to-end boot sequence including firmware, U-Boot/UEFI, kernel images, and encrypted storage.
• Customize and maintain vendor Board Support Packages (BSPs) for platforms like NVIDIA Jetson and NXP.
• Ensure all hardware peripherals such as cameras, radars, and motor controllers are reliably enumerated and operational.
• Maintain long-lived system baselines by patching kernel CVEs and ensuring secure boot stability on deployed units.
• Develop and maintain automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test suites to validate power states and bus communications.
• Perform deep root-cause analysis for hardware issues using logic analyzers, serial consoles, and schematics.
• Triage upstream kernel and vendor issues to produce and port custom patches as the platform evolves.

What we're looking for

• 4+ years of professional experience in embedded Linux platforms, sustainment of deployed systems, or kernel-adjacent integration.
• Deep understanding of the embedded Linux boot chain including firmware, bootloaders (U-Boot, EDK2), device trees, and root filesystems.
• Strong programming skills in C for kernel/driver development and proficiency in Rust or C++ for userspace services.
• Hands-on experience debugging hardware at the bench using serial consoles, schematics, and component datasheets.
• Experience maintaining software on real-world hardware to ensure updates are safe, resilient to bricking, and validated against regressions.
• U.S. Person status is required due to export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Experience with Nix/NixOS, NVIDIA Jetson/Tegra platforms, or automated HIL testing (preferred).
