Embedded Linux Software Engineer, Robotics Platform (DeviceOS)

What you'll do

• Own the end-to-end boot sequence including firmware, U-Boot/UEFI, kernel images, and encrypted storage unlock.
• Customize and maintain vendor BSPs for Tegra/Jetson and NXP hardware to align with NixOS package sets.
• Write kernel and device tree patches to ensure deterministic operation of cameras, radars, and motor controllers.
• Triage and remediate kernel CVEs and low-level system bugs on deployed hardware in the field.
• Build and maintain automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test suites to validate power states and bus communication.
• Perform root-cause analysis on bus errors, thermal throttling, and kernel panics using logic analyzers and schematics.
• Produce and forward-port upstream patches for kernel and vendor BSP issues that lack official fixes.

What we're looking for

• 4+ years of professional experience in embedded Linux platform sustainment or kernel-adjacent integration.
• Deep understanding of the embedded Linux boot chain including U-Boot, EDK2, device trees, and root filesystem assembly.
• Strong programming skills in C for kernel/driver development and proficiency in Rust or C++ for userspace integration.
• Hands-on experience debugging hardware using serial consoles, schematics, and component datasheets.
• Experience maintaining software on real-world hardware where updates must be safe and resilient to bricking.
• U.S. Person status is required due to export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Experience with Nix/NixOS, NVIDIA Jetson/Tegra, or low-level platform security (preferred).
