What you'll do

Design and build core components for the MongoDB MCP Server, Agent Skills, and Intelligent Assistant Platform.
Develop high-scale backend systems using Node.js and TypeScript within a polyglot codebase.
Define the first version and future evolution of AI interfaces in collaboration with product and design teams.
Solve ambiguous technical problems and drive complex projects to completion independently.
Shape system architecture, code reviews, and development practices as the team grows.
Mentor fellow engineers and take ownership of high-visibility projects from end to end.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure business continuity and incident response.

What we're looking for

Strong background in building core components for scalable, high-availability web applications and services.
5+ years of experience building backend systems, primarily in Node.js and TypeScript.
Proven success in designing, writing, testing, debugging, and performance tuning software in large code bases.
Track record of delivering complex projects independently with minimal guidance.
Product-minded approach to engineering with the ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs amid ambiguity.
Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills.
Experience building MCP servers, agent skills, or plugins for agentic applications (preferred).
Working knowledge of Java, Python, OAuth, database internals, or containerization platforms (preferred).
