Senior Search Engineer, Services Special Projects

What you'll do

• Design and maintain large-scale, low-latency, high-performance search systems.
• Develop and optimize ranking, relevance, and retrieval using ML models and vector databases.
• Build NLP pipelines for intent classification, entity extraction, and query expansion.
• Implement machine learning models and multi-stage reranking algorithms to optimize search precision.
• Create offline and online evaluation metrics and A/B testing frameworks for search quality.
• Deploy and optimize LLMs, embeddings, and ML models directly in the production query path.
• Translate latest research in information retrieval into scalable production systems.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, or Software Engineering with a focus on search infrastructure and information retrieval.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying large-scale search systems in production.
• Deep understanding of information retrieval, query understanding, query augmentation, and multi-stage ranking algorithms.
• Strong foundation in deep learning architectures for search and retrieval, including transformers and cross encoder models.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, C++, and Python, with experience in PyTorch and XGBoost.
• Experience with cloud environments, containerization, data processing pipelines (Spark, Flink), and vector search (FAISS).
• Experience deploying and optimizing LLMs and ML models in production, including quantization and inference runtimes (preferred).
