Senior Scientist, Engineering I/II, Automation

What you'll do

• Lead the delivery of custom and off-the-shelf automated laboratory systems to chemistry and engineering teams.
• Develop innovative automation and data handling solutions to improve R&D productivity.
• Build robust, autonomous end-to-end solutions for workflows ranging from instrument measurement to data warehouses.
• Partner with the Digital Transformation team to deploy scalable and maintainable performance reporting.
• Integrate modeling approaches with experimental tools to help scientists develop processes more efficiently.
• Apply an operational excellence mindset to identify and recommend opportunities to optimize current processes.
• Facilitate the collection, reporting, and analysis of performance data via online analytical tools and sensors.
• Integrate AI/ML tools and first-principles regression to facilitate rapid process optimization.

What we're looking for

• BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Relevant industrial experience for BS holders, for MS holders, or for PhD holders.
• Experience coordinating technical projects through to delivery.
• Proven experience bringing new automation equipment and processes online from initial startup to reaching targeted metrics.
• Experience delivering projects into environments such as R&D labs or manufacturing.
• Experience with programming languages including Python, Visual Basic, C, C#, and C++, and automation ecosystems like Ignition.
• Proficiency using business and project management software such as MS Excel, MS Project, Jira, and Smartsheet.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to succinctly summarize key findings.
