Senior Automation Engineer

What you'll do

• Lead the design, implementation, commissioning, and lifecycle management of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial networking systems.
• Serve as the controls and automation engineering lead for capital projects from concept through operational handoff.
• Manage vendors and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for new equipment.
• Develop and maintain site automation standards, cybersecurity practices, and equipment modernization roadmaps.
• Perform complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis to improve equipment reliability and process performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to develop internal engineering capabilities and adopt emerging technologies.
• Drive technical standardization and automation strategy across the manufacturing site.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Automation, Controls, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of industrial automation and controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success leading automation scope for capital projects from concept through startup, including system design and vendor management.
• Expert-level experience programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI platforms such as Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View.
• Deep technical expertise with industrial control systems, instrumentation, electrical systems, and industrial communication networks.
• Ability to travel up to 15% to support vendors, training, and other facilities.
• Ability to work in manufacturing, utility, and laboratory environments and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Previous experience in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or medical device manufacturing (preferred).
