Senior Scientist, Electrical Engineering (Phased Array RF Design Engineer) joins the Space Systems Sector to advance complex missions through expert phased array and RF hardware design. Key responsibilities include performing RF link budget analysis, signal analysis, and designing hardware for VHF, UHF, and microwave applications in L, S, C, X, Ku, Ka, and V bands. Required skills include proficiency with ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, MATLAB, and ECAD tools like Xpedition or Cadence. The role addresses the technical challenge of creating space-qualified phased arrays for advanced communication and radar systems.
Lead complex RF and Phased Array development including research, detailed design, and analysis for space-qualified systems.
Drive multi-disciplinary engineering teams through early lifecycle milestones such as technical baselines, proposals, and design reviews.
Champion Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects and conduct trade studies to influence strategic leadership decisions.
Develop phased array and RF roadmaps by researching industry trends to improve performance while reducing size, weight, power, and cost.
Support business development efforts by authoring Basis of Estimates (BOE) proposals to secure new program awards.
Utilize advanced simulation tools like ADS, HFSS, and MATLAB to create innovative hardware solutions.
Provide mentorship and technical leadership to fellow engineers across the organization.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree with 15 years of experience, a graduate degree with 13 years, or no degree with 19 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience in Digital and Analog Phased Array design for multi-beam AESAs and ESAs is required.
Experience with detailed RF performance analysis including link budgets, cascade analysis, signal analysis, S-parameters, and matching networks is required.
Experience with active and passive components like amplifiers, oscillators, mixers, filters, and phase shifters is required.
Experience in RF hardware design for VHF, UHF, and microwave applications across L, S, C, X, Ku, Ka, and V bands is required.
Advanced proficiency with tools such as ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, MATLAB, and other ECAD design tools is required.
TS/SCI Security Clearance (preferred); MMIC/RFIC design; RF Hybrid Multi Chip Module experience; and advanced use of lab equipment are preferred.
