Senior SCADA Engineer, Solar/Storage (BESS) Operations Engineering (Field/OEM) joins a growing team responsible for maintaining, integrating, and providing technical support for a vast fleet of renewable energy projects across North America, Latin America, and Europe. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert for OEM hardware and software while troubleshooting field equipment like inverters, trackers, and data loggers to ensure system reliability. Key responsibilities include validating SCADA architecture, mentoring team members, and managing technical resolutions with integrators. Candidates will work with industrial protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, OPC, and SEL FM, utilizing tools like Wireshark for network troubleshooting. Experience with platforms including Ignition, SEL RTAC, and various power conversion systems is required to solve complex integration challenges and ensure reliable telemetry across diverse solar, wind, and energy storage infrastructure.
Maintain and integrate SCADA infrastructure for a global fleet of renewable energy projects.
Serve as a subject matter expert for OEM hardware and software capabilities.
Troubleshoot and maintain field equipment including wind turbines, inverters, tracker controllers, and data loggers.
Resolve technical issues by coordinating with OEMs, integrators, and internal engineering teams.
Validate SCADA architecture to ensure all system modifications and additions are scalable.
Provide telemetry data to external entities through integrated systems.
Mentor team members and provide training on new technologies, tools, and standards.
Identify emerging platforms and software versions to address operational challenges or regulatory requirements.
What we're looking for
Must have 5-8 years of industry experience supporting renewable energy generation equipment.
Experience with industrial protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, OPC, and SEL FM.
Experience testing and troubleshooting device communication issues within a SCADA network using tools like Wireshark.
Experience with MS SQL or PostgreSQL databases.
Power Plant Controller (PPC) experience including design, support, and troubleshooting on platforms like SEL RTAC, GE RX3i, GPM, or Allen-Bradley (preferred).
Specific experience supporting solar, energy storage, or wind hardware and HMI platforms (preferred).
Professional project management, team management, or leadership experience; and experience developing training content (preferred).
